ON THE AIR Mornings with Brant & Sherri

Blog

So the last I saw Tony Stark  ahem, Robert Downey Jr, he was whacking Thanos upside the head and saving the universe as we know it. And it was rad. So rad, in fact, that when I heard RDJ was taking on the role of Dolittle, I was worried that I wouldn't be able to see anyone else other than Tony Stark (or even Sherlock Holmes?).

While I'm a big fan of the feel good "shut your brain off and watch it" movies that hit us around the holidays like Jungle Book, the Lion King remake, and uh... various other CGI-heavy stories that we've had produced recently, I was a little worried that Dolittle was going to just be another sort of generic "comfort food" level movie. If the trailer that dropped on October 13th is any indication, though, I think I might be wrong.

I've watched the trailer somewhere between 5 and 10 times writing this quick blog post, and I've reached the conclusion that, as an animal lover, this movie will make me weep like a small child at least 3 times. There could be a lot of reasons why this specific movie might be getting this emotional reaction out of me: the semi-foreboding remake of What A Wonderful World, the apparent battle at sea with... ape sailors(?), the cute lil goose. I don't know why I feel like this one is going to be set apart from all the other "oh look that dog is talking!" movies, but I think it will be.

We'll see.
