ON THE AIR Afternoons with Ansen & Kara

Blog

Hi! I’m Alexus, and I could lovingly be referred to as a pen collector, highlighter junkie, and post-it hoarder. In other words, I'm a thorough planner. I carry my planner with me everywhere and have had nightmares about losing it to the wind. The point is, I like to be very prepared when it comes to my schedule and upcoming events. However, sometimes events happening around us can turn our lives upside down, wreck our plans, and leave us feeling confused about what our next move ought to be.

In a time consumed by sickness and unrest it’s safe to say that our community is at a standstill, leaving all of us feeling discouraged and left in the dark. But I have had to remind myself that I am not the ultimate planner for my life, or anyone else’s for that matter. I have to remind myself that God is the ultimate planner (and probably has a much larger pen collection than I could ever dream to have).

This is re-emphasized for us in Jeremiah:

“For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plan to give you hope and a future.”
Jeremiah 29:11

Reading this passage reminds me that I don’t have the power to dictate every aspect of my life. I’m thankful that I don’t, because someone much greater has a plan for my life and my future. This verse begins with "I," meaning our Father in Heaven. We don’t know what will come with tomorrow, but there is great comfort in trusting that God alone has a plan for us, even if we can’t pencil it in in advance.

My prayer today is that we will lean on God and his plan for our lives, knowing that we aren’t walking through a world filled with sin and darkness alone. I pray that we, as a community, will know that we have hope and a future with Jesus regardless of what we may be treading through.
