About: Northwest Arkansas Head Start and Early Head Start is a program promoting school readiness for families of low income. Head Start and Early Head Start programs support the nutritional, mental, social, and emotional development of children birth to five. Services are provided to 226 Head Start children and 96 Early Head Start children. Services are in Benton, Carroll and Madison County. There are 7 local sites; Siloam Springs, Gentry, Bentonville, Pea Ridge, Rogers (2), Huntsville and Green Forest.
Services: Involve parents in educational activities of the program to enhance their role as the principal influence on their children's education and development, ensure parent participation in developing education services plan and in center, classroom, and home based program activities and include parents in the development of the curriculum, health, education, and nutritional services of the program.
Volunteer Opportunities: Volunteering is about the community being involved in what we do everyday. Northwest Arkansas Head Start has plenty of opportunities to volunteer. Some examples are: in the classroom reading to the children, filing, cleaning up the playground, helping with laundry, donated staff training, or donating supplies or time. There is work to be done!
