Why Do We Sing?

Have you ever wondered why we Christians sing so much in church? Of course, some of us love it and jump into it. Some of us wonder what the value is or just feel a bit awkward doing it.

Well-known Christian author, C.S. Lewis, took it to another level by wondering why God would command praise in the first place. Did God have some kind of superiority or inferiority complex that he needed people’s praise?

You know what he came around to eventually? Maybe we need to praise God. Maybe God has embedded something good into that experience. And, it turns out He has.

Not only spiritually as Scripture shows but also science is revealing that singing uniquely shifts and soothes the fear centers of our brains. Research even shows that singing together with others can mitigate the effects of trauma-related symptoms.

So! Let’s sing. For the Bible tells us so. And a growing amount of research says so too.
