Organization Information

Mission:  The Salvation Army, an international movement, is an evangelical part of the universal Christian Church.  Its message is based on the Bible.  Its ministry is motivated by the love of God.  Its mission is to preach the gospel of Jesus Christ and to meet human needs in His name without discrimination.

About:  The Salvation Army is an integral part of the Christian Church, although distinctive in government and practice.  The Army’s doctrine follows the mainstream of Christian belief and its articles of faith emphasize God’s saving purposes.  Its objects are the advancement of the Christian religion… of education, the relief of poverty, and other charitable objects beneficial to society or the community of mankind as a whole.’ (Salvation Army Act 1980)

Volunteer Opportunities:  The Salvation Army needs YOU!  In the beginning, The Salvation Army was considered a radical group.  It was filled with radical followers who sacrificed all for the cause of Christ.  Their Founder and General William Booth instructed them, “Go for souls and go for the worst.”  Today, The Salvation Army around the world is still filled with men and women willing to give their all for the salvation of the world.  This is done in halls and chapels, under disaster tents, in Christmas Centers, homeless shelters and anywhere you find the Red Shield of The Salvation Army.  Contact the center closest to you to find out more about how you can help!
