About:  Senior Outreach Services provides activities and non-denominational ministry to senior citizens who reside in nursing homes and assisted living centers located in Northwest Arkansas area.  We promote recognition of the importance to the elderly of respectful and meaningful relationships with people outside their immediate community.

Vision: Through compassion, respect and recognition of the needs of the elderly, Senior Outreach Services will be recognized by the community as an organization that relieves loneliness, restores dignity and renews a connection to the outside world for residents in nursing home facilities. We will also be recognized as an enriching and life changing volunteer opportunity.

Services:  Senior Outreach Services offers a varied selection of activities and support services to the residents and caregivers of our participating facilities.

The Group Activities Program coordinates various activities that include reading and telling stories, holiday and birthday celebrations, sing-a-longs, group games, pet visits, exercise time, movie night, arts and crafts, and guest speakers.  All activities are directed by our trained volunteer staff.  We provide all the necessary materials at no cost to our partner facility.

The Individual Activities Program provides activities and fellowship to those individuals that are not able to participate in group activities.  With assistance from our Partner facility, we schedule one-on-one time with our volunteers to visit, read stories and play games with individual residents.

The Ministry Program provides non-denominational church services to either groups or individuals.  These services may be scheduled at any time during the week that it is convenient for the facility and the residents.  We provide all of the materials needed for worship and the singing of hymns.

Volunteer Opportunities:  The majority of our staff are made up of volunteers who are willing to donate a few hours per month to visiting our friends at local nursing homes and assisted living centers.  Senior Outreach Services is an interfaith community organization.  We welcome volunteers of all faith backgrounds (or with no faith background), and we try to reach out to all nursing home residents, regardless of their religion.  The types of activities (Group, Individual or Ministry) that you wish to participate in are up to you.  We do request that you make a commitment of spending a minimum of one hour per week for twelve weeks.  Our directors and staff will provide you with all of the training and information that you will need to make your volunteer time rewarding to you and our Resident friends.
