Thursday morning, January 2, 2025, 15 year old, Jax, had a seizure in the car on the way to basketball practice. Jax’s mom, Lindsey, immediately called her husband Chuck, who is a firefighter and has expertise in these situations. They all rushed to meet up, but by the time they arrived there together, Jax had stopped breathing and had no pulse.
Chuck came running to the vehicle, clearing his son from the car, and immediately performed CPR while Lindsey called 911. For Lindsey and Chuck, this experience was traumatizing to be in the process of trying to save their son’s life. Chuck was able to get a pulse back, before it crashed again, then got it back once more with the EMS crew on the ambulance. They worked on him while in transit to Mercy Hospital and by the time they got there he had a strong heartbeat, his pupils were responding and his color had improved dramatically.
Once Jax was stabilized, they flew him via helicopter to Children’s Hospital in Little Rock. Jax was able to breathe on his own again on January 12th and has been fighting to get back to us ever since. Jax has received extensive physical and occupational therapies and was able to return home in May. He is currently relearning how to slowly build strength in his body again.
During those long months his older sister Addy completed her senior year with her amazing family 160 miles away. She and Jax have always been close so senior was very difficult for her but she never stopped fighting for him too!
With all of them back under the same roof, Jax has continued therapy after his Anoxic Brain Injury and has made astonishing improvements. His family, community and church still stand and agree for his complete healing in Jesus' name. Their home has undergone renovations to accommodate Jax's needs and his family remain his primary caregivers while still working outside of the home.
