As a pastor and counselor, I can’t count the times I’ve walked with someone while they are burdened by whether or not they measure up in spiritually or are doing what really counts in God’s eyes.
Most of the time those walks have led us up to why the gospel of Jesus is such good news! God’s love for us is a gift. Wherever we’ve fallen short, Jesus shores up once and for all.
Paul says something striking in Galatians 5. He says that no religious act counts for anything! The only thing that counts is “faith working through love.”
All of Christ’s love that we have received as a gift, we share freely with others.
That’s what really counts!
