As a licensed counselor, there is a lot made of the “mind-body connection.” And, rightly so! It’s vital to mental health to engage with how our minds affect our bodies and how our bodies affect our minds.
In Christian theology, we are called “psycho-somatic” beings, which simply means that the soul and body are integrated.
As it turns out, a Christian practicing mental health looks basically identical to worshiping God. The first couple of verses in Romans 12 encourage us to rely on God’s mercy to live worshipfully with our bodies and to be transformed by renewing our minds.
We grow healthier by a mind set God-ward as well as a life that actually steps in His direction.
We nourish our “mind-body connection” as we take to heart the fact that God uses all His strength to bend down to us where we need His mercy most.
