The National Weather Service in Tulsa has issued a Winter Storm Warning for the majority of the Real FM listening area. Benton county and Adair county in NE Oklahoma were added to the warning Thursday morning, joining the rest of Northwest Arkansas and the River Valley.
The NWS is predicting 2 to 6 inches of snow with locally higher amounts possible. Winter weather will spread southwest to northeast across eastern Oklahoma and northwest Arkansas during the day Thursday and remain common through Friday morning.
Travel is expected to become dangerous across portions of the area. The greater potential for a mix of precipitation types remains south of Interstate 40, with all precipitation forecast to become snow overnight Thursday night. This wintry weather will likely impact the Thursday evening commute as well as the Friday morning commute.
A number of area schools and businesses have announced early closings on Thursday, as well as closings for Friday. Check out the Real FM Closings page for the latest updates!
