My mom used to sit at the piano and play this old hymn a lot. Sometimes she would even sing along.  "Great is thy Faithfulness, O God my Father. ” As a child, I’m not sure I understood the significance of those words.

It took my dryer dying for me to look at Matthew 5 differently.  Let’s back up: a couple of weeks ago, right in the middle of drying most of my work clothes and like, 90% of my socks and underwear (I don’t separate my laundry, don’t judge), my dryer stopped working.

There’s an old praise & worship song I often sang at youth group and church camp back in the 90’s. The song is pretty repetitive, with just one word being replaced with a new one as you sing each subsequent verse. It’s called “Take My Life,” and it goes like this.

There are few creatures on this earth that have perfected the art of rest like cats. I mean, it’s called a “cat nap” for a reason. When a cat feels safe they’ll stretch out in the sun, belly up, in a state of complete relaxation and bliss.

Do you have a plan to practice integrity in 2019? For a long time I had a misconception of integrity as something that’s just innate in people. There's people of integrity, and there's people who take more than 12 items to the “express" lane at the grocery store. It was just that simple, I thought.

I don’t know if moms actually have superpowers, but it sure seems like it sometimes. Especially when you can’t find something. You can be absolutely convinced you opened every cupboard, looked under every piece of furniture, and scoured every square inch of the house for that item.  No luck.

Have you taken time to rejoice yet? I only ask, because here we are just a few days away from celebrating the birth of our Savior, the most significant event to have ever happened, and I’ve realized that I haven’t taken time to properly reflect and rejoice.

I get frequent updates on my Instagram feed from a friend of mine who splits her time between Uganda, and the United States. She’s an incredible photographer, and posts beautiful photos of her job working in a school surrounded by adorable children. I am both impressed and intimidated by her.

I click through the pictures and my heart sinks.  The devastation left behind after a hurricane is hard to wrap your mind around, but I see it on their faces as they dig through the rubble of what was once their home.

There’s something so wonderful to about the invitation that David gives in Psalm 66:5 to “come and see. ” It’s an invitation to reflect and praise together as we remember the remarkable journey that God’s people have been on.  .
