Anger can get a bad wrap, especially in religious circles. Eastern expressions tend to see it as something that needs to be “let go” and to be unaffected by with enough practice. Sometimes Christians just see it as wrong to be angry and like we’re supposed to be feeling something.
But, Jesus expressed anger. Scripture in the Psalms and in Ephesians say, “be angry and do not sin!” Christianity does not say “don’t feel” or “feel something else.” Christianity says, “do well with your feelings.” So, “feel angry well.” Anger says, “something needs to change.” What might need to change? How could love make a positive change?
One definition of depression is “frozen anger.” That’s often true. We need to pay attention to our anger, what God might be saying to our hearts through it, and seek change through love.
